Back To School Time

Back To School Time

It's back to school time!

This is a very exciting and busy time for children and teenagers returning to school.

Usually a new pair of school shoes is on the ‘to buy’ list along with all the stationary, text books, bags, uniforms, etc.

Before you race out to buy school shoes, consider this; my research shows we will walk between 70,000 to 100,000 miles in our lifetime on average! Young feet have a long, long way to go and are often neglected until problems arise later in life.

Take a moment and have a look at your child’s feet. Are they flat? Does he/she have high arches? Feet will continue to grow into the teen years. Often problems with feet are inherited, how are your feet?

The Australian Podiatry Association recommend having school shoes fitted by a professional. The benefit of a proper assessment and fitting may pay dividends for years to come and prevent pain and medical intervention on their enduring journey!
